VINCELOT SIGNS NEW DEAL

3 August 2017

Bradford City are delighted to announce that captain Romain Vincelot has committed his future to the club by penning a new deal.

Vincelot, who will once again captain the side during the forthcoming 2017/2018 season, has put pen to paper on a fresh two-year contract extension.

After arriving at the Northern Commercials Stadium from Coventry City last summer, the hard-working Frenchman quickly established himself as a fans' favourite with the City faithful due to his all-action displays in claret & amber.

Playing in either central defence or midfield, Vincelot featured in virtually all of the Bantams' league and play-off games last season.

The only Sky Bet League One encounter he actually missed was the final day trip to Rochdale when he was rested ahead of the play-offs.

Bantams boss Stuart McCall added: "It is always a bonus to keep hold of your captain for another added year.

"He brings a lot of leadership qualities and experience.

"He is a great personality to have in and around the dressing room - it was definitely a good decision to make him captain when he came to the football club last year.

"He has done exactly what we thought he would do when we brought him to the club, and it also helps that he can play in more than one position for us.

"A player of his quality is always admired by a lot of other clubs, so it was important that we signed him up for another year (on top of this coming season)."
