The Bantams suffered only their second away defeat of the league season following a narrow defeat to AFC Wimbledon at the start of the traditional festive period.

Lyle Taylor's swerving drive from distance proved to be the winner after Paul Taylor had cancelled out Cody McDonald's early opener with a close range strike soon after the restart.

An honest and hard-working display from Wimbledon made it difficult for Stuart McCall's men, but City still managed to hit the woodwork three times.

Matthew Kilgallon's thumped a header against the crossbar shortly after McDonald's opening goal, while Nicky Law planted a header of his own against the far post shortly after Lyle Taylor had put the hosts back in front.

Adam Thompson, in for the injured Nathaniel Knight-Percival, went agonisingly close to securing a dramatic leveller in the final moments of injury time but his shot from inside the area crashed against the post with George Long in the Wimbledon goal beaten.

HT: AFC Wimbledon 1 Bradford City 0
There will be one minute of time added on at the end of the first period.
Charlie Wyke's forward pass plays Nicky Law into a pocket of space deep inside the Wimbledon box. Law looks to drive the ball goalwards his effort is blocked by a vital diving tackle from Meades.
Wimbledon play the resulting corner short, with Deji Oshilaja firing wide of the far post following Taylor's ball into the box.

Taylor's ball into the box from a wide free-kick is headed out by Adam Thompson. McDonald is first onto the loose ball just inside the area and his fizzing first time drive whistles narrowly over the bar.
Matthew Kilgallon hits the crossbar! Tony McMahon's corner delivery is right on the money and Kilgallon connects with a powerful header that smashes plumb against the bar!
From Lyle Taylor's whipped free-kick delivery into the box from a wide position, Jon Meades sends a thumping header narrowly over the bar.
7min: GOAL - AFC Wimbledon 1 Bradford City 0 - Despite a solid start to the game from the Bantams, it is AFC Wimbledon who take a early lead through Cody McDonald.
