BIG MATCH PREVIEW | OLDHAM ATHLETIC (CHECKATRADE TROPHY)

5 December 2017

Just three days after securing their place in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, Stuart McCall's Bantams will be looking for more cup progression when they entertain Oldham Athletic in Round Two of the Checkatrade Trophy this Tuesday (5 December 2017).

After finishing top of Northern Group F during the first stage of the competition, McCall's men will take on Oldham on Tuesday evening (kick off 7:30pm) knowing victory will put them into the last sixteen and within three rounds of the Wembley grand final.

Oldham have already made the trip to BD8 once before this season, playing out an entertaining 1-1 draw with the Bantams in the league back in October.

The Latics will travel to Valley Parade with a new face in their ranks this time around, however.

Former Bantams player and manager Paul Jewell, who famously guided City to the Premier League back in 1999, became the new Oldham assistant manager late last month.

Team News

Bradford City
The Bantams are expected to make changes for Tuesday's tie.

A number of players who started Saturday's FA Cup with Plymouth Argyle from the bench - including the likes of Adam Thompson and Omari Patrick - are likely to feature from the start.

Jake Reeves won't be risked after tweaking his groin in the second period of the Plymouth tie at the weekend, while Timothee Dieng (hamstring) is still not quite ready for a return.

Tom Field is also unavailable due to a knee injury picked up in the reserves last week.

Colin Doyle, Alex Jones and Adam Chicksen remain sidelined due to injury.

Oldham Athletic
Like City, Oldham are also set to make changes to their starting XI for the match.

Oldham defender Anthony Gerrard is back in contention after missing Saturday's 2-0 loss at Southend United in the league due to suspension.

Ryan Flynn, Abdelhakim Omrani, Paul Green and Brian Wilson - all of whom started on the bench at Roots Hall at the weekend - could earn starting berths on Tuesday night.
