Checkatrade Trophy Round Two
Bradford City 0
Oldham Athletic 1 (Obadeyi 3)
Kick Off: 7:30pm
at the Northern Commercials Stadium

Attendance: 1,036 (150 visitors)

The Bantams were knocked out of this season's Checkatrade Trophy following a narrow home defeat at the hands of Oldham Athletic.

City, who made nine changes from Saturday's Emirates FA Cup win over Plymouth Argyle, fell behind as soon as the third minute when the pacey Tope Obadeyi beat Lukas Raeder with a well-taken strike from the edge of the box.

Despite City's best efforts, Obadeyi's goal would ultimately prove to the match-winner in the Bantams' fourth and final game in this year's competition.

After suffering the blow of conceding so early, City tried to respond when Alex Gilliead forced a smart save out of Oldham 'keeper Johny Placide midway into the half.

Oldham, who fielded a strong side for the encounter, had a number of bright moments in the first period, with Paul Green testing Lukas Raeder with a fierce drive towards the end of the half.

Oldham's Dan Gardner went close with a half-volley after the break, but City seemed to grow more into the contest as the minutes went by.

Substitute Paul Taylor went close with one particular chance for the Bantams when he was teed up for a shot by Shay McCartan seven minutes from the end.

Oldham nearly put the tie to bed towards the end of normal time when Obadeyi hit the post from outside the box.

The Bantams came back again at Oldham in injury time but Jordan Gibson saw a strike from inside the box saved by Placide in injury time.
