Bantams winger Jordan Gibson says he cannot ease up at all in his pursuit for more first team action after impressing in City's Checkatrade Trophy campaign this season.

Gibson tried his best to catch the eye once again during Tuesday's 1-0 Round Two defeat to Oldham Athletic at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

The former Rangers attacker was arguably one of City's brightest performers during their four Checkatrade Trophy games this season.

With a busy festive period and a new calendar year around the corner now, Gibson says he must continue to work as hard as ever as he bids to join Omari Patrick and Tyrell Robinson in making the step-up from the club's development squad.

Gibson said: "We are naturally disappointed to lose (against Oldham) - I want to win every game I can - but this competition has given me a platform to try and impress.

"I've started in three of the matches and got some good match minutes under my belt.

"The next aim has to be to try and get some game-time in the league but I know I have to be patient and keep working hard.

"I am thankful to the gaffer for giving me a chance in this competition and letting me show what I can do.

"The gaffer has shown that if you impress in these Checkatrade Trophy games, you have a chance of getting into the squad in a first team league game.

"Tyrell is a good example of that, and I'm really pleased for him getting his chance in the league and the FA Cup recently.

"Now this competition is over for us, the league has to be my next priority.

"I've been on the bench a couple of times recently and I travelled down with the team for the away games at Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town.

"I have to look at the likes of Tyrell and think that I want to be where he is.

"The manager has been great with me and the other younger lads. He is willing to give young players a chance.

"If you show what you can do, he trusts you and has faith in your ability.

"It is a long season, and I set myself goals for this campaign at the start of the year.

"I know I have to be patient and keep working hard, and hopefully I can achieve those goals by the end of the season.

"I'll just keep working hard and trying to impress when I get a chance."
