ROBINSON DELIGHTED WITH 'DREAM' GOAL

11 December 2017

Bantams match-winner Tyrell Robinson couldn't hide his delight after helping City to clinch a memorable 4-3 victory over Rochdale at the Northern Commercials Stadium on Saturday.

Just three weeks after netting the winning goal at Wigan Athletic, Robinson was at it again at Valley Parade to ensure the Bantams came out on top in a topsy-turvy seven-goal thriller.

Robinson's game-clinching goal came in front of a delighted Kop Stand, with the speedster using his undoubted pace to beat the on-rushing Dale 'keeper Josh Lillis to Charlie Wyke's through-ball before slotting home.

Robinson said: "That is something I've been dreaming of since I've come to the club - to score in front of the Kop.

"When I saw the 'keeper coming out I knew I had to get that touch and knock it round him.

"Once I've done that, I was concentrating on just hitting the target. I'd done the hard work by taking it past the goalie.

"When the ball went in the net, I didn't really know what to do. I was over the moon - it was such a great feeling.

"We were so determined not to let the game slip after Rochdale had pulled it back to 3-3.

"We didn't want another home game where we'd played good football and not got the win.

"Everyone pushed each other on, and to get the winner was fantastic."

After starting at left back for the FA Cup second round tie with Plymouth Argyle the previous weekend, Robinson retained his place in City's starting line up for the visit of Rochdale.

Robinson began the game at left back before moving up the pitch into a left wing role midway though the second period.

He added: "I like to play as a winger and as a full back, so my pace helps me in both parts of my game.

"When Luke (Hendrie) came on, I got pushed up onto the left wing.

"My fitness levels now to when I first started here have improved an awful lot.

"I think you saw that in the (Rochdale) game because I was able to keep going.

"I hadn't trained much in the week leading up to the game due to illness, so I was very thankful to the manager for keeping me in the side from the FA Cup.

"It means a lot to me that he trusted me to start again at the weekend.

"I still have a lot to learn if I want to play as a full back or wing back.

"I can't just rely on my pace all the time to get me out of any trouble.

"Kenny (Black) and the gaffer have been helping me with my defensive work in recent weeks.

"I am buzzing with the way things have gone recently but I want to keep pushing and keep improving."
