KNIGHT-PERCIVAL SET FOR RETURN TO TRAINING

7 February 2017

City boss Stuart McCall says he expects defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival to return to training this week after missing the last three games with an ankle injury.

Providing he comes through unscathed, Knight-Percival's reemergence back out on the training pitch should put the 29 year-old in contention for a place in City's squad for this Saturday's trip to Bristol Rovers.

Attacker Alex Jones is likely to miss the journey south, however, as the Bantams continue to try and clear up a hip problem for the January recruit.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with Gillingham at the weekend, McCall revealed a scan has confirmed a tear in the striker's hip cartilage.

McCall said: "Nat will be fine to join in training this week.

"His ankle was still slightly swollen ahead of last Saturday (vs Gillingham) after some running he'd done but we expect him to be back training Thursday at the latest.

"We'll have further chats about Alex to see where we go with his injury but we can't really give a definite timescale at the moment.

"We're going to have to monitor things and look to get a second opinion.

"We need to be exactly sure how best to treat it and what our next step is.

"Ultimately, we need to work out whether he needs an operation to heal it or whether just rest and recuperation will suffice."
