McCALL POSITIVE ABOUT SECOND STAGE OF THE SEASON

2 February 2017

Bantams boss Stuart McCall feels City can now attack the final few months of the season with real positivity following the closure of the January transfer window.

The Bantams brought in six new players in total during the January transfer window - Alex Jones, Alex Gilliead, Matthew Penney, Jacob Hanson, Charlie Wyke and Kevin Toner.

With Tuesday's transfer deadline day coming and going this week, McCall now feels the Bantams are entering the second section of the 2016/2017 campaign, starting with Saturday's encounter with Gillingham at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

McCall said: "We have a lot of players in good form at the moment. We need to maintain that if we wish to have a strong finish to the second half of the season.

"We have a really spirited and determined bunch here and there is a good feel around the club at this moment in time.

"After the closure of the window on Tuesday, we now know what we have to work with for the remainder of the campaign.

"Although we will take it game-by-game, there is a real focus and confidence around the group now about the remaining months ahead.

"We have to be positive now in the months ahead and go for it really.

"Gillingham have been working with a new manager recently and they picked up a draw at Sheffield United in their last away game.

"This match will bring its own challenges but we know we have to focus on our play at home.

"The lads are in a confident frame of mind and ready to really attack this second half of the season and finish strongly."

This Saturday's game will, of course, be the club's official #BantamsFamily fixture, with City offering supporters discounted tickets in certain sections of the ground.

McCall's men will also be wearing the limited edition fourth shirt against the Gills.

The City chief feels it is a great idea to give something back to the supporters and he hopes his side can play their part on the pitch.

McCall added: "It looks like it will be a bumper crowd and atmosphere on Saturday.

"The fans' support throughout this season has been tremendous and it is great to see the club rewarding them.

"We've had some great atmospheres this season - the Sheffield United game in particular.

"Even in our previous home game against Millwall, the crowd really did play a key role in getting us back in that match.

"You look at last Saturday at Oldham as well, I think those 3,000 fans behind the goal virtually sucked Rory's (McArdle) shot over the line.

"The supporters really do play a vital role here and it is important that we show our appreciation by giving something back.

"Hopefully the lads can help by sending the fans home happy with the right result.

"I like the kit, I can't wait to see the lads in it on Saturday.

"I would imagine we will have some new fans in the ground at the weekend.

"If we can send them home happy and with a desire to want to come back again, that is what it is all about."
