Marshall was taken off eight minutes before the end of City's match with Bury at the Northern Commercials Stadium after taking a bang earlier in the contest.
Following the 1-1 draw with Bury on New Year's Eve, McCall's squad face a quick turnaround before their next game with Northampton just 48 hours later.
While Marshall is listed as doubtful for City's first game of 2017, Filipe Morais is definitely ruled out of the trip to Sixfields Stadium after McCall confirmed that the Portuguese attacker has suffered a small tear in his calf.
Speaking after the Bury match, McCall also revealed that James Meredith and Timothee Dieng were both named on the bench against Bury in preparation for the Northampton game.
McCall said: "Marshy got a bit of a bang in the first half which I think restricted him a bit.
"Fil (Morais) has a grade one tear in his calf that will probably put him out for about ten days.
"Marshy obviously had his knock in the (Bury) game but Fil's injury meant we had limited options on the bench out wide.
"Playing two games in three days can be a hard ask, especially for explosive players like Mez (James Meredith), so Killa (Matthew Kilgallon) came in today (Saturday) and did really well.
"Timothee Dieng is another player we chose to leave out with Monday in mind. He has in the past felt his back for a day or two after a game so we decided not to start with him either.
"We've made changes for this one (vs Bury) and we will be making changes again for Northampton.
"We will get the lads in the pool tomorrow (Sunday) for a cool down. We'll then watch the Sheffield United vs Northampton Town game on the bus down to our overnight stop-over in Northampton.
"The lads are obviously disappointed not to get the win that they felt they deserved (vs Bury) but we have a quick chance to bounce back now."
While City were held by Bury on Saturday, Monday's opponents Northampton lost out 1-0 on New Year's Eve thanks to a late winner from Sheffield United's Kieron Freeman at Bramall Lane.
The Bantams and Northampton met as recently as November at the Northern Commercials Stadium when a second half James Hanson goal netted the win for McCall's men.
McCall added: "We remember how hard-fought our encounter was with them (Northampton) recently.
"We dominated most of the match and should have been more than one goal up but they came back into it towards the end and we needed a great save from (Colin) Doyley to help see the game out for us.
"We'll go and give everything we've got again on Monday."
