McNulty made sixteen appearances for City, scoring one goal in the process, after moving to the Northern Commercials Stadium on loan at the end of August.
Following his recall to Sheffield United, McNulty is now expected to feature in the Blades' squad for their Sky Bet League One fixture at Bury this Bank Holiday Monday.
