THE HARD WORK CONTINUES IN AUSTRIA FOR CITY ON DAY TWO

12 July 2017

The Bantams' second full day in Austria saw Stuart McCall's men continue to work away on the training ground in preparation for the season ahead.

In a repeat of Tuesday, City's main training session at their temporary base in Kleinwalsteral was mainly made up of high-intensity football drills, giving McCall another opportunity to get across to the group the style and standard of play he is looking for next season.

It must be said, the competitive nature in which the games were played in was certainly encouraging, with each member of McCall's twenty-two man squad keen to catch the eye of the watching management team.

The Bantams' summer signings all seem to have hit the ground running as well - hopefully City are seeing the benefits of having the majority of their squad already in place towards the start of pre-season.

After missing Saturday's opening pre-season friendly of the summer at Bradford Park Avenue, Paul Taylor and Alex Gilliead have both been able to successfully take part in Tuesday and Wednesday's training sessions.

Although the footballs were out for most of the morning, the lads still couldn't quite escape the traditional pre-season running drills!

The timed runs came at the end of a lung-busting session, leading to many of City's players taking a quick dip in the ice-cold water behind the training pitch to mend some weary legs!

Stefan Rupp was a welcome visitor to training on Wednesday, the joint-owner stopping by to show his support to the players and staff.

The expected rain actually held off until later in the day, meaning McCall's men could get their work done in pleasant sunshine and nice temperatures.

Following the gruelling morning session, McCall's squad were given the afternoon off to rest and recuperate.

Many of the squad took the opportunity to explore some of the beautiful local scenery.

Hopefully the group made the most of their time off - the rumour is that it's back to double sessions tomorrow (Thursday)!

City's group ended the day on Wednesday with the much-anticipated initiation songs for the new players.

It was a close-run thing, but Dominic Poleon narrowly beat Alex Gilliead to the group vote for best performance!
