VINCELOT | WE KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS WEEK

12 July 2017

City skipper Romain Vincelot has acknowledged that the Club's week away in Austria and Germany is an important part of their pre-season programme.

After flying out of England on Monday, Stuart McCall's Bantams will train at their Austrian base until Friday before completing their time abroad with a friendly in Stuttgart against local German side TV Echterdingen on Saturday.

City have all of their senior pros with them, including Vincelot, in a twenty-two man squad for their time in Austria/Germany.

The popular Frenchman believes City's time away will give the squad a chance for some vital work on the training ground, as well as giving the summer signings a good opportunity to really settle in.

Vincelot said: "This week will be hard but we need to push ourselves to be ready for the new season.

"When you are away for a week and with a group twenty-four hours a day, it is a good way to talk to someone and get to know them even more.

"It is good to get to know the new lads a bit better, but there is already a good atmosphere in the camp.

"Obivously the players here from last season know each other well and the players who have come in seem to be good lads as well.

"The Club seem to have recruited good players, but good characters as well. It makes things easier that way, the new players seem to be settling in already.

"It is hard at this time of year with the intensity of training, but I enjoy the hard work. I know it is essential for the season ahead.

"This is a massive week here (in Austria).

"Once we are back in England, there will only be two weeks to go until the build up starts ahead of the Blackpool game (opening day fixture).

"The team bonding and the work we'll do on the training pitch this week will be of great benefit to us as we move forwards."
