Bantams boss Stuart McCall says he has been pleased with the quality of work produced by his squad during their time in Austria.

McCall's men completed their final training session at their temporary Austrian base in Kleinwalsertal on Friday after four full days in the country.

The Bantams will now finish off their time abroad with a pre-season friendly against German side TV Echterdingen near Stuttgart on Saturday.

McCall said: "From the staff's point of view, the most pleasing thing is that each day seems to have got better in terms of the quality in training.

"The quality, the intensive, the tempo - it has all been there. As you would expect, the lads have worked extremely hard.

"Even though they've been going through some tough sessions, they've been doing it with a smile on their faces.

"While the level of fitness has improved among the group, the quality of the football being played seems to have gone up as well.

"That is the biggest plus point - the quality has improved day by day. It has been really encouraging.

"We've wanted to work on both sides of training this week. We've had the high-tempo and pressing off the ball, and we've also had the movement and passing when we're on the ball.

"You have to work on fitness levels in pre-season but we also want to work on the quality of our play as well and how we use the football.

"You can be a fit side and be defensively resolute but it is harder to create a side that is creative.

"Building team spirit is also important - you have to be strong as a group off the pitch as well as on it throughout the season.

"Togetherness is key for any side who wants to do well, and that is where trips like this are invaluable.

"It has been hard work - the lads have certainly been ready for their beds to rest up when they've done - but it has been really good.

"The hotel and their staff have been superb, the views around the area are outstanding and the temperatures have been just right.

"We've had a bit of rain at times but it hasn't been too hot either so we have been able to work longer at a really high intensity."
