Following the arrival of Paul Taylor on a one-year deal, City's Head of Recruitment/Chief Scout spoke about the new signing.

‘Paul is something different. We looked at what we had last year and we looked at where we think we could improve and he’s a player with a proper decent pedigree. I spoke to Paul Jewell about him two or three weeks ago and he signed him for a million and a half when he was the manager at Ipswich.’

‘It probably didn’t quite work out as well as it should have done for Paul (Taylor) when he was there but at this level, we asked Paul (Jewell) about him and he was nothing but complimentary. I think the one thing he’s got is great pace and we need to get some pace into our front line. That’s something that we didn’t probably have enough of at times last season.’

‘The big thing I said to Paul when I was talking to him is, can you turn those draws into wins. We had too many draws last season which in the end held us back. I think he’s got the ability to open up doors when things are tight in games and both sides are struggling to find quality, he gives you that.’

‘The impressive thing about him is that when we took him around the stadium, he looked up at the stands and I spoke about the Bradford fans and what they expect. When we were speaking about those things, he got a glint in his eye and said, Greg I want to do this in front of 19,000+ people every week, it’s where I want to be.’

‘I told him that we like the right type of people at this football club, and he seems to be exactly that. He was so complimentary of what we did here last season and so enthusiastic about coming in and helping us to be even better.’

‘With the quality he’s got and the way Stuart and Kenny get the best out of players, he’s another one that we think could be a real asset to us. For that reason, we thought we’d give him an opportunity and hopefully he produces this year and then we can look at things after that.’
