On the day defender Adam Chicksen joined the Club (Monday 19 June 2017), City’s Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott has spoken to give fans an update on the Bantams’ latest transfer situation.

Left back Chicksen became City’s first signing of the summer on Monday after penning a two-year deal at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Abbott said: “We would have liked to have done another one today (Monday) but that deal has ran into a couple of issues nothing to do with us.

“Although it isn’t going to happen today, we are still hopeful that the deal will be done.

“The process of constructing and completing transfers – identifying targets, seeing if they fit into our style of play, discussing deals – is well under way.

“I am absolutely confident that we will have a competitive squad by the time we start the season in August.

“We all want to bring those players into the football club that will make us competitive but we have to patient.

“We are keen to get at least one or two (more players) in as soon as possible but we can’t put an exact date on when that will happen.

“Once we have completed a deal, we will be letting the fans know as soon as we can.

“We want to give them encouragement.

“We’ve had another player into the club that we’ve been speaking to this afternoon – things are happening all the time.

“We will never comment on names until any deals are completed. Once they are completed though, we can’t wait to let our fans know.”
