PITCH/STADIUM WORK UPDATE

15 June 2017

As the main article image shows, the first shoots of grass have begun to appear on the playing surface at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

The Valley Parade pitch underwent redevelopment work following the conclusion of the 2016/2017 campaign.

This work included a process known as 'koroing'. This where the top layer of the pitch is removed to help with drainage and grass growth.

After this, roughly 116 tones of fibre sand was laid on the surface.

Fibre sand is normally used to help with drainage as well while also improving the stability of the turf itself.

The pitch was then re-seeded earlier this month.

The pitch is expected to be back match-ready and in top condition in plenty of time for City's first scheduled home pre-season friendly of the summer against Sunderland on Saturday 22 July 2017.

The seats in the first eight rows of Block B to F in the JCT600 Stand have now been completely removed.

New seats are set to be inserted into those rows towards the end of this month.

Block A will remain untouched as the seats in this particular block were replaced as recently as 2015 ahead of City's FA Cup quarter-final with Reading.
