Long-term City supporter Craig Dignam is set to take on his greatest walking challenge so far ahead of the Bantams' Sky Bet League One encounter with Walsall this Saturday (1 April 2017) at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Craig (pictured in main article image) is planning to walk the one hundred miles between Walsall's Banks's Stadium and Valley Parade in time to watch Stuart McCall's men take on the Saddlers in League One action.

The experienced hiker has walked for charity for over ten years now but this particular trek will be his longest ever in terms of distance covered.

Along with his brother Paul, Craig will begin his walking challenge this Thursday (30 March 2017) and aim to be on the pitch at the Northern Commercials Stadium ahead of kick off on Saturday.

Mr Dignam nephews - Paul Dignam, Bobby Prince and Danny O'Connor - will also be making up part of the team.

The five of them will be ably assisted by Craig's wife, Nicky, who will be driving the safety vehicle and providing admin support.

The Bantams followers will be undertaking this sizable challenge to help raise funds for three notable causes - The Burns Unit appeal, Cancer Research UK, and St Johns Hospice Lancaster in memory of Craig's late father.

This Saturday's game actually has extra significance to Craig as it is the closest City home fixture to his dad's birthday (4 April).

Craig's mother and his niece, plus her four infant children, will be coming over from Morecambe at the weekend to see him finish the mammoth walk.

Craig himself would like to thank Bradford City and Walsall FC for their support, along with the hotels, Park Inn by Radisson in Walsall, The Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell, Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield and The Jurys Inn in Bradford.
