CITY SIGN TALENTED YOUNG TRIO

10 May 2017

With an eye already on the 2017/2018 campaign, Bradford City have today (Wednesday) completed the triple signing of young professionals Callum Gunner, Tyrell Robinson and Omari Patrick.

Gunner, Robinson and Patrick have all penned one-year deals at the Northern Commercials Stadium, with the trio set to officially become part of the Club's set-up at the start of pre-season.

Gunner impressed in City's final Central League fixture of the season back in April while playing as a trialist, the 18 year-old scoring the opening goal in a 3-0 win over Wrexham at Apperley Bridge.

The energetic central midfielder is formerly of Swindon Town.

Robinson, 19, is a lightning quick leftie, who is comfortably playing either as a full back or a winger.

The Basildon-born player has spent most of his young career at Arsenal having come through the Gunners' Hale End Academy.

Robinson signed a professional contract at the Emirates Stadium in January 2015. He featured for Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup, at U21/U23 level and in the UEFA Youth League before leaving the Gunners this February.

During his time with the Premier League giants, Robinson also trained with Arsene Wenger's first team.

Patrick - City's third signing of the day - comes to Valley Parade after recently departing fellow Yorkshire club Barnsley.

The 20 year-old stands at 6' 1'' and has the strength, height and pace to enable him to excel as a central striker or a wide player.

Along with Barnsley, Patrick has also featured for Kidderminster Harriers where he picked up some first team experience.

In other news, Daniel Pybus has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Northern Commercials Stadium for next season.

Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott explained: "Everyone is understandably excited about the forthcoming trip to Wembley (in the League One Play-Off Final) but my job is also to look towards next season as well.

"We have two types of signings - ones that are ready to go in and strengthen the first team straight-away, and young ones that we can bring in, develop, and eventually get into the first team.

"The way the loan system is at the moment, you have to take a player in for at least half a season. That isn't ideal, we would prefer to bring our own young players in and develop them.

"Going down this route, it means we have players ready to go into Stuart's (McCall) first team when needed, rather than bringing in a loan player that we perhaps don't know as much about.

"The three players we have in today (Wednesday), Omari - an attacker - Callum - a box-to-box midfielder - and Tyrell - a really quick attacking defender/winger - all fit into that preferred category, as does Dan Pybus, who we have re-signed for next season.

"Add the likes of Jacob Hanson and Ellis Hudson to that group, we now have a selection of really exciting 18 to 20 year-olds who will hopefully stop us having to use the loan market as much in future."
