Scunthorpe United 2 (Burgess 45+1, Adelakun 69)
Kick Off: 7.45pm
at the Northern Commercials Stadium

Attendance: 19,163 (476 visitors)

The Bantams suffered an unfortunate home defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe United in a hard-fought encounter at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Despite controlling proceedings for long periods, particularly in the second period, City suffered a 2-1 loss to the Iron thanks to Hakeeb Adelakun's free-kick winner just over twenty minutes from the end.

The Bantams had taken the lead towards the end of the first period through an stunning strike from distance by Paul Taylor, but there was still in the half for Scunthorpe to level things up soon after via Cameron Burgess from an Adelakun free-kick.

City pushed and probed for a way through Scunthorpe after the break, with Nicky Law and Luke Hendrie forcing saves out of Scunthorpe 'keeper Matt Gilks, but Iron stunned the Bantams with a goal that came somewhat out of the blue.

Adelakun took aim from a free-kick outside the box and the winger's strike for goal found the bottom corner after squirming out of the clutches of City sub shot-stopper Rouven Sattelmaier.

Sattelmaier was introduced into the action at the break due to a knee injury picked up by Colin Doyle during Scunthorpe's opening goal.

The German 'keeper produced a bright double save later in the half to deny Jordan Clarke and Paddy Madden as Scunthorpe looked to make the game safe.

The Bantams searched for a way back into the match as the time ticked down.

Taylor looked to add to his scoring efforts for the night deep into injury time but his fierce drive from around the edge of the box was pushed out via an alert save from Gilks.
