As usual ahead of a first team game, Bantams boss Stuart McCall held his pre-match press event at City's Apperley Bridge training ground this Thursday to preview Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie with Chesterfield.

McCall's men entertain Sky Bet League Two side Chesterfield at the Northern Commercials Stadium in the first round encounter this weekend.

Ahead of the visit of Chesterfield to Valley Parade on Saturday, let's take a look at the main headlines from the press call with the City chief...

Loan players update
McCall confirmed that City are looking into the possibility of having their four loan players - Tom Field, Luke Hendrie, Alex Gilliead and Adam Thompson - available to them for Saturday's cup tie. As with any knock-out competition, teams have to receive written permission from their loan player's parent club before they can be selected in a match. McCall said: "We are still waiting to hear back about a couple of them. We're not 100% sure yet who will be available to us. We will know shortly, however, and we'll then make our plans accordingly."

Team selection
On top of the issue with his loan players, McCall will be forced into at least two changes for the Chesterfield tie due to Tony McMahon's suspension and a minor injury for Jake Reeves. McCall has also revealed that there is a spot of illness in the camp to deal with. He said: "We have Macca (Tony McMahon) suspended and a couple of the lads troubled with a bit of a bug. We will know more about those lads in the next 24 hours in terms of their availability for Saturday. Jake has been instrumental for us due to his enthusiasm and energy. He's struggling with a little injury so we are going to rest him for 7-10 days. There won't be loads of chopping and changing for this game though. We will be as strong as we can be."

Poleon back in training
After missing City's last three games with a hamstring problem, Dominic Poleon is back in training with the rest of the squad. McCall said: "He (Dominic Poleon) was back training with us today (Thursday). It was only a tweak, a very small tear, and nothing too serious. It was a little tight for him but it was only ever likely to be a two-week thing."

Chicksen operation confirmed
McCall revealed that injured defender Adam Chicksen underwent an operation last week to repair his damaged thigh. The left back picked up the fairly serious injury towards the end of the home match with Oldham Athletic last month. McCall said: "He (Adam Chicksen) has been in today on his crutches, he is partial weight-bearing. We've seen pictures taken before the operation which have shown the damage to his tendons and the muscle in his thigh. The surgeon was very pleased with how everything went though, and they have strengthened the whole area up.We're not too sure on a time-scale yet in terms of his recovery but Adam appears in good spirits."
