FIVE THINGS | SHREWSBURY TOWN (AWAY)

23 November 2017

The Bantams travel to league leaders Shrewsbury Town this Saturday (25 November 2017) for their latest Sky Bet League One fixture.

Ahead of the fixture at the Montgomery Waters Meadow, let's take a look at five possible talking points going into the weekend.

1. Encouraging away form
City will look to bounce back from Tuesday's frustrating home defeat by Scunthorpe United when they travel to Shrewsbury this Saturday. The Bantams' away form has been impressive so far this season, with Stuart McCall's side collecting six wins from their nine matches on the road so far. Shrewsbury currently sit top of the table after an eye-catching start to the campaign which has seen them surprise many. The Shrews are unbeaten at home so far this season but City have already ended similar runs when they travelled to Peterborough United and Wigan Athletic - can they do the same again this Saturday?

2. Shrewsbury continuing to shine
The Shrews may have lost out in their previous fixture - a 1-0 defeat at Bury on Tuesday night - but Paul Hurst's men continue to lead the way at the top of the League One table. Having amassed an impressive 40 points already this season, Tuesday's defeat to Bury was only the second of their league campaign. Since Hurst took over back in October 2016, Shrewsbury have only lost three times at home in the league, with defeats coming at the hands of promotion-chasing Fleetwood, Bolton and Millwall last season. Due to the Emirates FA Cup and recent internationals, this Saturday's game will be Shrewsbury's first league home match in over a month.

3. Taylor to bring his shooting boots again?
The way Paul Taylor is going at the moment, there won't be much debate as to where the Goal of the Season award is heading. The only decision left come the end of the season will be which of his goals actually wins the vote! Having already netted with a stunning strike against Oldham last month and hit the crossbar with another long-range piledriver against Plymouth (not to mention his well-taken goal at MK Dons), Taylor was at it again on Tuesday night. The lively Liverpudlian, who is quickly becoming a hit with supporters, rifled City in front with a superb effort from distance past Scunthorpe 'keeper Matt Gilks. Heading into this weekend, can we expect more Taylor magic at Shrewsbury?

4. Twenty-game mark reached on Saturday
This Saturday's game at Shrewsbury will see City reach the twenty-game mark in the league season. The Bantams had 35 points after twenty matches in the league last campaign, meaning victory at Shrewsbury at the weekend for McCall's side will push them ahead of that total (36 points).

5. Looking for a change in fortunes at Shrewsbury
The Bantams will head to Shrewsbury this Saturday looking to improve on their recent record at the Montgomery Waters Meadow. City have only won there once in eight visits, with the single victory coming back in 2009 thanks to goals from Michael Flynn and Gareth Evans. City were actually the very first league opponents for Shrewsbury in their current ground when it was opened in 2007.
