FIVE THINGS | WIGAN ATHLETIC (AWAY)

16 November 2017

After three successive home matches in league and cup, Stuart McCall's Bantams get back on the road this Saturday (18 November 2017) for their away fixture with Wigan Athletic in Sky Bet League One.

Ahead of the League One encounter at the DW Stadium, let's take a look at five possible talking points for this weekend...

1. Looking to bounce back
After the frustration and disappointment of last Saturday's unfortunate home defeat at the hands of Plymouth Argyle, McCall's men will be looking to get back to winning ways at Wigan this weekend. On paper, a trip to an in-form Wigan side looks set to be a stern challenge of City's credentials, but arguably some of the Bantams' best results so far this season have come away from home - including impressive victories at Peterborough United and Milton Keynes Dons. Can City pick up another eye-catching result on their travels at the weekend?

2. Wigan challenge expected
Despite City's encouraging away form so far this season, McCall's side will still be expecting a strong test at the weekend when they travel to Wigan. The Latics, who are many people's tips for the League One title, are unbeaten at home this season, with only Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers taking points off them at the DW Stadium. Paul Cook's men have also gone their last six league home matches without conceding. Interestingly though, due to the Emirates FA Cup and a postponed match because of international call-ups, this Saturday's game will be Wigan's first league fixture since 28 October.

3. Travelling support
The Bantams are set to be backed by a large away following when they travel to the DW Stadium at the weekend. Over 2,000 tickets had already been snapped up by City supporters by the beginning of this week. More are expected to be sold in the build-up to Saturday. Can those present in away section at the DW Stadium come match-day make all the difference to McCall and the City squad?

4. Happy Wigan memories
Talking of big away followings, who can forget that night back in October 2012 when 5,000 City fans arrived at Wigan to see the Bantams, then of League 2, defeat their Premier League hosts on penalties in a memorable Capital One (Carabao) Cup tie? That game, of course, truly kick-started City's historic run all the way through to Wembley and the grand final against Swansea City.

5. New members added to the first-team group?
Following in the foot-steps of Omari Patrick, Tyrell Robinson has recently made the jump up from the club's development squad into the first team picture. Robinson impressed during a second half showing against Plymouth Argyle last weekend, while fellow youngster Jordan Gibson was named on the bench for the Pilgrims fixture. Can we expect to see the likes of Robinson and Gibson in future match-day squads, starting with Saturday's Wigan fixture?
