VINCELOT | SMALL MARGINS COST US

23 November 2017

Bantams skipper Romain Vincelot says City were left to rue the 'tiny details' in their defeat to Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Despite controlling proceedings for long periods, Stuart McCall's side lost out 2-1 to Scunthorpe at the Northern Commercials Stadium thanks to Hakeeb Adelakun's free-kick winner roughly twenty minutes from the end.

Vincelot said: "The performance was good enough to get us something from the game but unfortunately we got the tiny details wrong.

"It is frustrating, but we have been strong all season so we know we can bounce back.

"We should do better pressing them straight from their kick off after our goal.

"We should then defend better from the free-kick (for their first goal).

"For their second goal, we should have been more alert when they won their first free-kick and played it forward.

"They then earn another free-kick - the goal - that actually goes through the wall.

"It was the little mistakes like that which cost us.

"Sometimes these little things don't cost you, you can get away with them in some matches, but they ended up losing us the game on Tuesday.

"It shows how important those little details are.

"We tried to get back into the game in the end but we should have been more careful not to concede those goals after scoring ourselves.

"That is football though, there is still plenty of positives to take from Tuesday's game in terms of the level of performance.

"There is still a long, long way to go in this season.

"We will be ready for the Shrewsbury game come Saturday. It will be a tough one, but we will be ready for it.

"Our performance at Wigan recently showed that we can beat anyone on our day in this division."
