Bantams boss Stuart McCall held his usual pre-match press event at City's Apperley Bridge training ground this Thursday ahead of the Sky Bet League One fixture away to league leaders Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

Looking ahead to the weekend
McCall was understandably keen for his players to move on from the frustration of Tuesday's unfortunate home defeat to Scunthorpe United. He said: "The end result wasn't what we wanted but the level of the performance and the desire and the commitment of the players was there for all to see. There is no doom and gloom from Tuesday night. We take plenty of positives from the performance and head into Saturday knowing we can go to any ground in our league and get a result if we're on our game. I am really looking forward to Saturday. It was our poorest performance of the season last year away at Shrewsbury. We were a bit flat and lethargic back then but there will be no excuses for Saturday. We're going to top of the league and we'll have another great backing cheering us on. We come into this game on the back of some really good recent away performances and results."
Expecting a strong Shrewsbury challenge
Going into Saturday's encounter with the table-toppers, McCall says he is fully aware of Shrewsbury's strengths. He said: "They are a physically strong and determined side. They work very hard for each other and they are dogged. They clearly some good momentum and confidence in their squad at the moment. They have been fantastic all season and their manager (Paul Hurst) has done a tremendous job. They are another very hard side to play against, and their home form under Paul is very good. We can only focus on ourselves, however, and that is what we're going to do. If we perform like we have done in the last two games, I'll be more than happy."
Doyle injury update
City shot-stopper Colin Doyle looks set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in Tuesday's Scunthorpe game. Early assessments seem to suggest that the Irishman will be out for 2-3 months. McCall explained: "It is not great news for Colin. We don't have the full details yet as he is going for further checks but we would expect it will be months, rather than weeks, that he is out for. It is certainly a blow to him and to us. It appears someone has landed on him as Scunthorpe scored their first goal. Rouven (Sattelmaier) came in and did well when he got his opportunities last season. He will now go head-to-head with Lukas (Raeder) for the number one jersey."
Jones injury announced
Along with giving an update on Doyle's injury situation, McCall also revealed that Alex Jones missed the midweek Scunthorpe game due to an injury of his own. McCall said: "He rolled his ankle in training on Monday. At first, we thought it was something fairly innocuous but we have him in a protective boot at the moment. He is another one, like Colin, who is seeing a specialist to get further details. We perhaps could be looking at around a month or so (out) for Alex."
Dieng's return delayed
Timothee Dieng will miss out once again this weekend when the squad make the trip south to Shrewsbury. Despite initial hopes of having him back this week, Dieng now looks set for a further frustrating period on the sidelines. McCall revealed: "Last season he had a calf problem which lingered on longer than we thought it would, and this hamstring injury for him now seems to be sticking about as well. It was only a small tear but it doesn't seem to be healing quite how we would like it to. We could be looking at another couple weeks out for him. We thought last week we might be able to get him back involved in training this week. He started a bit of running but then felt some discomfort in the area. We don't want to push him too much and risk him tearing it properly and then have him out for a long time."
