DEFENSIVE DUO SIGN NEW DEALS

10 October 2017

The Bantams are delighted to be able to confirm that defensive duo Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Matthew Kilgallon have both penned new deals with the football club.

Knight-Percival and Kilgallon have signed one-year contract extensions to keep them at the Northern Commercials Stadium until the end of the 2018/2019 season.

The duo, who both joined the club ahead of last season, have started together in central defence for all twelve of City's Sky Bet League One matches so far this campaign.

The pair have helped City to secure six wins from their last eight league games, with the Bantams keeping three clean sheets and only conceding eight during that same period.

The central defenders have also been contributing at the other end of the pitch as well in the early stages of this season.

Knight-Percival has two goals to his name already during the campaign, while Kilgallon scored in the win at Peterborough United and was involved in goals at Walsall and MK Dons.

Speaking about his defensive duo, City boss Stuart McCall said: "Prior to the closure of the summer transfer window, there was actually some interest in Killa (Matthew Kilgallon) from a team abroad.

"It would have been a big offer for him in terms of finances but Matt wanted to stay.

"The way he has been playing this season and the loyalty he has shown to the club, Matt deserves this new contract.

"Playing in his preferred position of centre back after a spell at left back last season, Matt has shown everyone what he is all about with a number of consistent performances.

"He is a good influence in the dressing room, as is Nat.

"Apart from a small period last season when he had a little dip, as most player will do during a campaign, Nat has been excellent since he's arrived at the club.

"He has shown his adaptability to play on the right-hand side of defence despite being left-footed, and he has been defensively sound again in the early stages of this season.

"He is a great professional and very committed to the club."
