Bantams striker Charlie Wyke was delighted to be back among the goals after netting a match-winning treble against Bristol Rovers at the weekend.

On his first start of the season on home soil, Wyke grabbed his third career hat-trick in front of the Sky Sports cameras to help City to a 3-1 win at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

The haul for the forward understandably saw him claim the Man of the Match award to go with the match-ball, while the hat-trick also moved Wyke joint-top in City's scoring charts alongside Dominic Poleon and Alex Jones.

Wyke said: "Personally for me, it was obviously a great afternoon. Scoring a hat-trick and getting man of the match in front of the cameras.

"To get the three goals in front of the home fans was brilliant.

"They really roared us on and thankfully we repaid them with the win and a good performance.

"This is my first hat-trick in League One. I got one in the FA Cup and one against Mansfield with Carlisle (in League Two). Hopefully I can get more before the season is out.

"We worked hard on the training ground throughout the week on our football and on our set-pieces.

"It paid off for us with this performance and some good attacking football.

"We have to keep working hard and keep going now."

After claiming his hat-trick, Wyke, who missed a large part of pre-season and the start of the campaign with a hamstring injury, was substituted thirteen minutes from the end.

The striker himself says his withdrawal was down to nothing more than a spot of cramp though.

Wyke added: "It was just a bit of fatigue really.

"I had cramp in both calves. Over the next few weeks, I'll be able to build my fitness levels up and that won't happen again."
