CITY SECURE OPENING CENTRAL LEAGUE VICTORY

6 September 2017

City's Development Squad secured victory in their opening Central League fixture of the season this Tuesday with a win over Doncaster Rovers.

Two goals from Ellis Hudson helped the Bantams to claim a 2-1 success at Doncaster's Cantley Park training ground.

Hudson featured for the full game against Rovers, as did fellow young professionals Lachlan Barr, Jacob Hanson, Curtis Peters, Callum Gunner and Jordan Gibson.

After featuring as unused substitutes in the win over Bristol Rovers in Sky Bet League One last weekend, Daniel Devine and Luke Hendrie also received 90 minutes under their belts.

Alex Laird played until the 75th minute.

For hosts Doncaster, first team squad members Jordan Houghton, Craig Alcock and Issam Ben Khemis were all named in their starting XI.

Ben Khemis actually levelled the game up for Doncaster ten minutes into the second period after Hudson had fired City in front five minutes before the break.

The game was still all-square going into the closing stages, but a scramble in the Rovers box following a Devine cross eventually saw Hudson prod home from close range for the match-winner.
