A number of former City favourites are scheduled to feature in a special charity game at Thackley AFC this Sunday (10 September 2017).
A Bradford City Legends side, captained by Gary Jones, will take on Thackey's 'Sally's All Stars' at the Mitton Group Stadium at Dennyfields on Sunday afternoon to raise funds for the 'So Sally Can Wait' charity.
The charitable group was set up in memory of mum-of-four Sally Major, who sadly passed away from bowel cancer earlier this year.
The money raised by the group goes towards lifesaving diagnostics and treatment for young people with cancer.
Sally was aged only 31 when she was diagnosed in May 2015.
She passed away just under two years later on 8 April 2017 at the age of 33.
Along with Jones, a number of other City legends, including Wayne Jacobs, Jamie Lawrence, Peter Beagrie and David Wetherall, are due to play in the match.
The game will begin at 3:00pm. Entry is priced at £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for concessions.
After the match, the entertainment will continue in the Thackley clubhouse with live music from 'The Elements'.
Thackley have opened up their club facilities and helped to arrange the event as Club Chairman Phil Woollias is friend of Sally's sister, Becky Outlaw.
Mr Woollias said: "As soon as I was aware of the need to raise money to help with Sally's treatment, I was really keen that I did whatever I could to help Sally and her family.
"The game has been planned for some time and was originally planned prior to Sally passing away.
"After speaking with the family, they were all keen for the game to continue to raise funds in memory of Sally.
"It is going to be a great occasion, and hopefully we'll get a decent crowd of City fans coming to see some of their old favourites back in claret and amber.
"As a City season ticket holder myself, I can't wait for the game.
"Let's hope we all do Sally and her family proud."
