BALL PAYS TRIBUTE TO 'TEAM EFFORT'

David Ball has paid tribute to the “team effort” which saw City earn an impressive 4-0 victory over Walsall.

The former Fleetwood striker’s second-half brace propelled the Bantams to victory, with Paul Caddis and Eoin Doyle joining him on the scoresheet.

The on-loan forward said: “It was a brilliant victory for the group and everybody involved at the club.

“We have been working hard to improve our performances and we saw it throughout the game.

“Credit to the back four, as well as Hope Akpan and Richard O’Donnell, for all helping contribute to the clean sheet.

“Defending has been something we have struggled with - but we put in a very good display at the back.

“When the defence is solid, it acts as a base for us attackers to go forward and flourish.

“We have scored eight goals at home - in the last two games - and I am delighted to have got myself on the scoresheet.

“Things are moving forward and the lads are all really confident we can kick on from here.”

The result saw the Bantams rise from the foot of the table into 22nd place.

And Ball is hoping to see more of the same, this coming weekend, when Stuart McCall’s Scunthorpe visit the Northern Commercials Stadium.

He added: “It is a massive psychological boost to be off of the bottom of the table – we saw that in the dressing room after the game.

“It shows the progress we have made recently and we all know it must keep going from here.

“We can look at what we have been doing well and take the momentum into Saturday’s game against Scunthorpe.

“We know that, because of the result we got against Walsall, we can potentially overtake Scunthorpe next week.

“It would be a massive result for the club and one we are desperate to get, as it will potentially take us out of the bottom four.”
