CHARITY PARTNER: BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST

10 December 2018

The Club are delighted to announce Bone Cancer Research Trust as it's third charity partner.

In Summer 2018, the Club announced a new and exciting opportunity for all local charities that would give them the chance to work alongside Bradford City and host a bucket collection at one of the five selected fixtures throughout the 2018/19 season.

Every penny raised at the bucket collection will go to the charity, to help them fund the amazing work they do.

Voting for the second fixture has closed and the Club are delighted to announce that Bone Cancer Research Trust received the most votes and will be hosting a bucket collection on Tuesday 1st January 2019 (Bradford City v Accrington Stanley).

Bone Cancer Research Trust are a small national charity dedicated to fighting a brutal disease – primary bone cancer.

The charity’s purpose is to save lives and improve outcomes for people affected by the disease. The is currently no cure for primary bone cancer, and survival rates haven’t improved for 30 years.

The Bone Cancer Research Trust raise vital awareness of the disease, so that people can be diagnosed sooner. The charity fund pioneering research into new ways to diagnose and treat the disease. And for patients already diagnosed, they provide reliable information and a supportive community so that no-one feels alone or isolated.

Despite being a small charity, they invest more into primary bone cancer research than any other large charity.

They receive no government funding and rely purely on donations to fund their life-saving work, making the public’s support evermore vital.

Kirsty Evans, Community Fundraising Officer, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as a Bradford City Charity Partner! As a small charity, we really value the support and the opportunity this partnership will provide and are excited to be working together to raise vital funds and awareness of primary bone cancer.

"Our mission is to save lives and improve outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer through research, information, awareness and support.

"Our ultimate ambition is to find a cure for this cruel disease and we are making progress, but there is still a lot more to be done.

"The partnership with Bradford City FC will help take us one step closer to our goal."

"We have been so overwhelmed by the response and support that we received from the community throughout the whole voting process.

"On behalf of everyone here at the Bone Cancer Research Trust and more importantly, the patients and families who will benefit from this partnership, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your vote."
