Eoin Doyle believes the Bantams’ good run of form will continue following Saturday’s victory over Scunthorpe.

His penalty, which followed Jack Payne’s 10th-minute opener, saw City gain a comfortable victory to escape the relegation zone – overtaking Stuart McCall’s side in the process.

Doyle scored his second goal in as many games for the club – and was happy with the Bantams’ performance.

He said: “It was a tough game but we gave it our all and we came out deserved winners.

“I was happy to score another goal, as it improves our chance to pick up the points needed.

“We are creating a lot of chances as a side and when that happens, the football is exciting and enjoyable to be a part of.

“We have games coming up against sides above us where we will look to gain points to keep moving higher.

“At the start of December, nobody would have said we would have been out of the relegation zone at Christmas and we have managed to do that.

“We do not want to be anywhere near the bottom of the league and are starting to move away from that now.

“The first half of the season is over and we have started to pick up some momentum that should set us well for the second half.”

David Hopkin’s side have now won their last three Sky Bet League One fixtures at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Doyle believes City’s home has become a fortress for the Bantams – and insists the fans have played a key part.

The Irish striker added: “Valley Parade is always a difficult place for any side coming here, as I have seen in previous games before I joined the club.

“The supporters really get behind the team and it is good that we have turned our home form around at such a vital point in the season.

“When you get an early goal like we did, the roar of the crowd grows even stronger and becomes that important 12th man.

“They have been great for us all season, which can’t have been easy for them considering the positions we were in.

“But we know they will support us through everything and will travel in good numbers up to the Stadium of Light on Boxing Day.”

Around 500 tickets will be available to City supporters when the Bantams face Sunderland on December 26.
