HOPKIN FRUSTRATED DESPITE DRAW

David Hopkin was left disappointed following yesterday’s 3-3 draw at Plymouth, despite City’s record now showing only one loss in six outings.

Jack Payne’s sixth and seventh goals of the season - along with an impressive George Miller strike - gave the Bantams multiple leads.

But City manager Hopkin was forced to settle for a point, as his side proved unable to hold onto their advantages.

He said: “It is disappointing we didn’t get the result we wanted. When you score three goals and go ahead three times, then it is always frustrating to not come away with three points.

“We let in two soft goals from set-plays. Two corners and poor defending - just after half-time - cost us.

“These things are difficult to take. In normal play, the whole team defended really well. We just seemed to switch off whenever the ball went out of play, which ultimately cost us.

“To take the lead three times away from home - you would expect to see the game out. Both teams are where they are in the league because they concede poor goals.

“Plymouth’s front three were very good, as were our front four. We created plenty of chances and should have kept the lead. The table shows that it is a point gained - but, really, it is two dropped.”

Nathaniel Knight-Percival sat out the last of a three-game suspension, making him eligible for Tuesday night’s Emirates FA Cup replay against Peterborough.

Striker Miller, meanwhile, grabbed his first goal since September - with a well-taken solo effort on his right foot.

“Credit to George Miller for taking his chance” added Hopkin.

“He showed a great first touch and a fantastic finish with that. Even at the depth he was still fighting to try give us the lead - and he almost did.

“We should have been travelling home with all three points but it wasn’t to be.

“It was the first time we have managed to score three goals and that in itself is a building block for us.

“But it was always going to be a tough ask. It was difficult to play without one of your centre-backs.

“Kelvin Mellor did a good job covering but he is a full-back having to play in the centre.

“It could have ended in a higher scoreline, considering the chances for both teams, but we will take the point into next week and look to build on it.”

The Bantams return to action on Tuesday evening, welcoming Peterborough United to the Northern Commercials Stadium in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Supporters will be able to pay on the turnstiles and admission is priced at £10 (adults), £5 (concessions) and £1 (juniors).
