HOPKIN: 'WE HAVE TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE BUZZ'

David Hopkin says his side will use the “buzz” surrounding the Northern Commercials Stadium to their advantage tomorrow.

The Bantams host Walsall in Sky Bet League One, with City looking to put Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup penalty shoot-out exit behind them.

And manager Hopkin admits City will have to be at their best in order to get the desired result.

He said: “Walsall have been fantastic. They don’t concede many goals and got a great result against Sunderland in the FA Cup.

“We know they will be organised and hard to break down. Going forwards they can also cause you problems.

“We must ensure we keep up the intensity of our play. We have a near fully-fit squad available to choose from.

“Early goals are key in this league, so if we start well then we are confident we can go on to win the game.

“There is a real buzz around the club at the moment - and we have to use that to our advantage in order to get the result.”

The Bantams have been enjoying a goal glut of late, scoring nine in their last three fixtures.

But all three games have resulted in draws, which is something Hopkin is keen to overcome.

The City boss added: “Despite the result in the week, everybody is in good spirits and are looking forward to the game.

“We are difficult to beat at the moment but we have to convert draws into wins, which I am sure we will do.

“We have to make sure we are brave because then the fans will get behind us. We saw it on Tuesday night against Peterborough.

“Even when the stadium wasn’t as full as it usually is, our supporters were vocal and backed the team all the way.

“It really helped us come back in the second half. I know it will be the same against Walsall.

“If the players are up for the challenge - and show some fight - Valley Parade is a fantastic place to play football.

“There is real belief now that we can keep pushing forwards.

“Improved mental and physical fitness has allowed us to come back from some tough challenges - and we will use this throughout the busy Christmas period.”
