Nathaniel Knight-Percival says the Bantams want to begin the New Year as they ended 2018.

City host Accrington in the first match of 2019 tomorrow at the Northern Commercials Stadium (kick-off 3.00pm).

The Bantams have recently recorded impressive Sky Bet League One victories over Walsall, Scunthorpe and Rochdale to move clear of the bottom of the table.

Knight-Percival, 31, scored in Saturday’s 4-0 hammering of Rochdale and believes City will continue their impressive run of form in the crucial weeks ahead.

He said: “It was nice to get the goal at Rochdale to get us up and running.

“As a defender, it is my job to help out from the back but I am happy to contribute from the front too.

“The backline know we are strong and can perform at a level above what we have so far.

“We have always had the quality but, for whatever reason, it did not work out for us at the beginning of the season.

“Our football against Rochdale was very good but we have to focus on what is coming up next for us.

“The Accrington game will be a tough one as they are looking to bounce back from defeat.

“However, we know we have the quality to beat anybody and will look to continue our decent form tomorrow.”

David Hopkin’s side have scored 19 goals in their last seven games, three of which have taken place in the last 10 days.

Despite currently sitting two points from safety, Knight-Percival is confident the season can end on a high for the Bantams.

The former Peterborough player added: “All of the coaching staff have pushed us to try perform at our best and you can see that on the pitch with how we are playing.

“The mental and physical fitness improvements in the side has helped us push all the way in every game.

“When you are performing well and getting good results, your confidence is bound to go up and it has, collectively, across the squad.

“Performances have improved but we cannot get too carried away as yet. We are still in the bottom four.

“We just have to keep going with what we are doing, heading into the New Year, and continue to make this a productive season for everyone involved.”
