O'BRIEN CONFIDENT BANTAMS CAN KICK ON

22 December 2018

Lewis O’Brien has spoken of “collective confidence” ahead of this afternoon’s visit of Scunthorpe United.

The talented midfielder, on loan from Huddersfield, was named man of the match following City’s 4-0 defeat of Walsall last time out.

And O’Brien, who believes improved fitness levels have been key for the Bantams, is hopeful of a third-straight Sky Bet League One victory on home soil.

“You can see we are able to perform throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes to our full potential,” he said.

“We saw in the games against Peterborough how we can fight back, no matter the score or the time. There is plenty of belief about the place.

“We are much fitter as a group nowadays. The gaffer has worked on it since he came in and we are reaping the rewards of it.

“We are never in doubt we can get a result out of every game and will show that against Scunthorpe.”

O’Brien played a pivotal role in the Bantams’ previous league victory and received huge plaudits.

The 20-year-old has been a consistent performer for manager David Hopkin - and is looking to kick on.

O’Brien added: “It was really good for me to get the man of the match against Walsall.

“It is nice that the fans and sponsors can see you have done well. I am putting everything on the line in every game to try and help the team.

“They could have picked any one of the players who played. The whole squad played well - but I am proud to have been recognised.

“I am really enjoying my football at the moment and playing for Bradford.

“The players have really helped me develop both my game and my confidence.

“We have more knowledge of how each other play, throughout the whole team, which allows us to function better as a group.

“We now need to ensure we keep it going through the remainder of the season.

“We will face a tough side in Scunthorpe – who are near the bottom with us – but we know we have what it takes to put a smile on our supporters’ faces in time for Christmas.”
