GRAYSON AIMS HIGH AFTER TAKING CHARGE AT CITY

12 February 2018

Reporting for his first day on the training ground this Tuesday ahead of tomorrow evening’s Sky Bet League One clash at Charlton Athletic, new Bantams boss Simon Grayson spoke with positivity about taking charge in West Yorkshire once again – the 48 year-old has previously had success locally, in charge at both Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.

Arriving at Bradford City with his assistant Glynn Snodin, Grayson is back in management just over three months after his departure from Championship side Sunderland. His spell in the North East was a relatively brief one having only taken over following his departure from Preston North End after just under four and-a-half years in charge at Deepdale.

He said: ‘I am delighted to be here. Since I left Sunderland, I’ve had many opportunities to go to different clubs but I feel this is the right one for me at this moment in time.’

‘I am fully aware of the size of the club, the fanbase here, and the level of expectancy.’

‘Myself and Glynn (Snodin) are coming here with one aim, and this is to get promoted.’

‘I initially spoke to Edin (Rahic) on Tuesday and then later in the week.’

‘Having brought clubs here as an opposition manager in the past and being quite close living in the area, I know all about this football club.’

‘It has a fantastic fan-base who are desperate to see the club do well.’

‘The club has had success over the last eighteen months in terms of their league position.’

‘We are coming here to hopefully get it over the line and then see where the club can go in the future.’

Following his announcement as Bradford City Manager on Sunday, Simon’s first press conference will take place later in the week.
