FIVE THINGS | NORTHAMPTON TOWN (HOME)

11 January 2018

Stuart McCall's Bantams return to league action this Saturday (13 January 2018) with a home fixture against Northampton Town.

Ahead of the Sky Bet League One encounter, let's take a look at five possible talking points going into the weekend...

1. First home game of the calendar year
City welcome Northampton Town to the Northern Commercials Stadium on Saturday for their first home match of 2018. The Bantams ended the previous calendar year with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Oxford United at Valley Parade. Can they start off their home fixtures for the year ahead with another win?

2. Looking for three in a row
Although last Saturday's defeat in the Emirates FA Cup to Yeovil Town was clearly a big disappointment, it musn't be forgotten that City head into this Saturday's game looking for their third consecutive league win. The Bantams claimed victories over Oxford and Fleetwood either side of the New Year's celebrations in their two previous league fixtures. Can City make it three in a row at weekend?

3. Doing the 'double'?
After victory over Northampton at Sixfields Stadium back in September, this Saturday's fixture will represent City's maiden chance to claim their first 'double' of the season - home and away victories over the same opponent. Can City achieve this mini milestone at the weekend?

4. Good recent record against the Cobblers
City head into Saturday's contest against Northampton with an encouraging recent record against the Cobblers. The Bantams have won their last five matches against Northampton, including the League Two Play-Off final back in 2013.

5. Wary of Northampton threat
Despite going into Saturday's fixture looking to maintain their fine recent league form, City will be wary of the challenge of Northampton. The Cobblers - who won at home to Southend United last time out - are currently positioned in the relegation zone, but previous tough encounters against sides also in the bottom four this season will give McCall's men food for thought.
