COMMUNITY TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT VALLEY PARADE

8 May 2018

Prior to our pitch renovations kicking off later this month, various community groups are making the most of their opportunity to take to the field at The Northern Commercials Stadium.

On Saturday 5th May, Bradford City Disability Football Club hosted a Junior tournament which included teams from Aston Villa, Rotherham, Leeds & Prism Deaf and Shapla FC. Over 100 junior players took part on the day and were even paid a visit from our local PSCO's.

The following day saw the Old Incorrigibles take to the pitch at The Northern Commercials Stadium. The Old Incorrigibles are a Horsham based community football club, who are fully inclusive with players ranging in age from 13-63.

The group, led by lifelong Bradford City Fan Craig Robinson, paid a fee to be fully immersed in the matchday experience.

Over the bank holiday weekend, the action continued with Bradford City Football in The Community hosting their own youth tournament on Monday 7th May. Hundreds of youngsters took part with many more taking their place in the stands as spectators.

The participants were also paid a special visit by City goalkeeper Colin Doyle, who signed autographs and met all the players.

This weekend the fun continues, with Bradford City Women Juniors taking to the field on Saturday. The small-sided games taking place will be of even extra significance, as it will be many of the girls' first experiences of playing on the hallowed turf.

Finally, on the day before our pitch renovations begin in earnest, we will proudly host The Bangla Bantams Community Day.

The day will kick-off at 10:00 with 2 West Riding County FA Youth Cup up for grabs. The winners of each will be presented their trophies by Bradford's Lord Mayor, who is a proud supporter of the community activity taking place.

Then, The Greater Sylhet Upazila Cup will be contested between Bishwanath FC (Bradford) and Nabigonj FC (Oldham).

The pinnacle of the day will be The Fans for Diversity cup, between Bangla Bantams and Sport League. Former professional footballer Anwar Uddin will be on hand to crown the winners and continue his support for the work of The Bangla Bantams.

On Monday 14th May, our pitch work will get started ahead of the 2018/19 season.
