HOPKIN: 'WE MUST RISE TO THE OCCASION'

David Hopkin has highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive mindset ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Peterborough (3.00pm).

The Bantams travel to the ABAX Stadium to face a Peterborough side which currently sits third on the Sky Bet League One ladder.

City boss Hopkin is challenging his players to rise to the occasion and kick-start their efforts to move clear of the division’s bottom four.

He said: “No game is easy. Every team in League One poses different challenges and we know Peterborough are a free-scoring team.

“We will go there organised and try to again implement the hard work we have put in over the last few weeks.

“If we can take one or two chances then great but we need to make sure, defensively, we do not make any mistakes and give away soft goals.

“It is a game we are looking forward to. We have played well against teams at the top because we rise to the challenge - and that is what we have to do this weekend.”

The Bantams are without a win in six league outings, though head coach Hopkin is adamant his side will turn around their fortunes in the weeks ahead.

“We have got to be professional about things,” said Hopkin.

“Results have not been great but performances have improved. It is frustrating but that is the job we are in. It is a job that I relish.

“We have good players but injuries have meant we have had to ask people to play in different positions.

“There is only one way we will get out of this and that is by everybody sticking together. The players and staff are in good spirits. We are starting to create chances, and, hopefully, we will begin to convert those into goals.

“The positive mindset is something we need to maintain. There is only one way things go with negativity. If we start getting down beat then it rubs off onto the pitch.

“I am happy with how we have performed over the past few weeks. The players have shown good character to come through that but, obviously, the biggest thing now is results.”

Coaches travelling to Peterborough tomorrow will depart the Northern Commercials Stadium from 11.00am.

You can pay on the gate at the ABAX Stadium, with admission prices at £28 (adults), £22 (seniors), £18 (under-22s), £11 (under-18s), £8 (under-12s) and £2 (under-7s).
