Martin House Hospice will be hosting a bucket collection at the Northern Commercials Stadium ahead of kick-off tomorrow.

Over 800 supporters voted for Martin House Hospice to host a bucket collection at tomorrow’s fixture against Oxford United.

Every penny raised at the bucket collection will go to the charity, to help them fund the amazing work they do.

Martin House provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire in their hospice and the community.

The hospice is a place where children, young people and families go to stay to find support, rest and practical help in a friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.

The charity has a special link with the city as a third of the 575 children, young people and families it supports live in the Bradford District.

There are over 3,000 children and young people living with life-limiting conditions in West, North and East Yorkshire and the charity is keen to reach more families.

Not only do Martin House have a strong link with the city, but with Oxford too. Rev Richard Seed was a serving clergyman at Helen House in Oxford, the first Children’s Hospice in the world. He moved to Yorkshire and recognised that a similar service was needed and opened Martin House in 1987.

To see the facilities for ourselves, some of City’s off-field staff and Kelvin Mellor visited Martin House Hospice to show his support.

Kelvin was given a tour of their superb facilities and met some of the families staying at Martin House, including the Bateson family who told us their story.
