David Hopkin has challenged his Bantams to make “a significant stride forward” tomorrow - when Bristol Rovers visit the Northern Commercials Stadium (3.00pm).

City enter the Sky Bet League One clash fresh from a bonus-point success over Everton Under-21s on Tuesday evening, with Hopkin seeking a second-straight victory.

A win could propel the Bantams up the league ladder and Hopkin knows tomorrow offers an opportunity for his side to “kick on”.

“We have put a lot of focus on this game and have not looked past it one bit,” said the City boss.

“Everyone is ready and prepared for tomorrow. It is going to be a very tough game but we are up for the challenge.

“We are facing a team full of confidence, as they have won their last two games. Bristol are a good side.

“They will come up here buoyant but if we apply ourselves as we have in training, it should be enough to get us a win.

“The boys are certainly looking forward to it, after a good win on Tuesday night, and we want to kick on.”

Hopkin is preparing to welcome back defender Kelvin Mellor, who has overcome a hamstring injury.

And with Jake Reeves, Alex Jones and skipper Josh Wright all closing in on Bantams returns, the City head coach has reported positive news from the medical room.

“Kelvin has trained twice this week and should be good to go for tomorrow,” added Hopkin.

“We have a few more getting close. Jake, Josh and Alex are back running and will be back in full training with us very soon.”
