David Hopkin is expecting to welcome a host of Bantams back to full training before the end of the month, as City gear up for a busy period of fixtures.

Sky Bet League One games against Doncaster, Bristol Rovers, Wimbledon and Sunderland will take place in the coming weeks for Hopkin’s side - in addition to Checkatrade Trophy fixtures at home to Everton Under-21s and Oldham.

Josh Wright and Kelvin Mellor, who have both been nursing hamstring problems, will return to full training next week.

Jake Reeves and Alex Jones are close to completing their rehabilitation programmes, having been ruled out with groin and hamstring injuries respectively.

And Joe Riley is being assessed ahead of making his return to Bantams action.

City head coach Hopkin said: “It is certainly better news on the injury front and the boys coming back will create extra competition for places.

“We didn’t pick up anything on Saturday, which is positive, and the injured players are working hard with the medical staff to get back into full training as soon as possible.”

Luca Colville has been ruled out for up to three months after suffering a knee ligament injury.

Hope Akpan (shoulder) and Adam Chicksen (leg) will return to training next month, while goalkeeper Ben Wilson continues to recover from a knee injury.

Ellis Hudson and Cameron Hawkes have returned to full training, though Danny Devine (foot) and Curtis Peters (ankle) remain sidelined.

City return to action on Saturday, travelling to face Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium (3.00pm).
