CITY IN THE RUNNING FOR BOARDROOM PRIZE

18 April 2019

The Bradford City Boardroom has been nominated - for the ninth successive season - for The Visiting Football Directors Award.

The award is voted for by all 92 Premier League and English Football League clubs and will be presented to the winner at the annual Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards, which is being held at the Etihad Stadium in June.

Club ambassador Steve Longbottom said: “This is the reflection as to how our visitors feel about the way in which they are treated when they visit the Northern Commercials Stadium’s boardroom.

“This nomination represents a massive ‘pat on the back’ for the boardroom staff on matchdays.

“In addition, over the last two seasons, every single ambassador has come together to present the very best of the club.

“This nomination keeps a run of nine years going and, in that time, we won the League Two award for five years running - and the League One award on two occasions.”

“Since the new format was introduced, whereby only one boardroom can win from 92 clubs, we have been nominated each year and - two years ago - finished third behind Norwich and Newcastle.”

Voting took place last month and awards are given based on the highest percentage of votes cast for each club.

Longbottom added: “Because all 92 clubs don’t play each other, it is not possible to vote for an unknown so the result is based on a percentage.

“If 90% of clubs visiting us vote for us and, for example, 75% of those visiting Chelsea vote for them, then we would win.”

The awards ceremony will take place on June 20, in Manchester, and the Bradford City boardroom will be represented.
