BANTAMS BACKING THE BINGLEY WEEKENDER

18 August 2019

The Bantams are supporting this year’s Bingley Weekender - and its full, exciting line-up has been confirmed!

The festival, taking place at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, will be headlined by James, Doves and Ocean Colour Scene!

They will be joined by a host of emerging and touring acts along with a comedy billing. New announcements include Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, Gang of Four, Louis Berry, Twisted Wheel and more.

Friday at the festival has a fittingly lively line-up. Legendary 90s alternative band Ocean Colour Scene are headlining. The band released five top-ten albums. One of them ‘Marchin’ Already’ reached number one in 1997. The band’s biggest hits include The Riverboat Song and The Day We Caught The Train.

Next on the line-up are Idles, one of British guitar music’s most surprising success stories from the last couple of years. They have been at the epicentre of the punk revival that has taken the industry by storm since 2017. Last autumn they sold out an entire UK tour  off the back of their album ‘Joy as an Act of Resistance’.

The rest of the day has plenty in store for lovers of indie and alternative music. Acts performing include newly announced acts like post-punk cult favourites Gang of Four and Liverpudlian troubadour Louis Berry.

Saturday at the festival has a strong mix of household names and future headliners. After taking a long hiatus from 2010 till late 2018, Doves are well and truly back and lead Saturday’s line-up. The band are responsible for brilliant tracks including Black & White Town and There Goes The Fear Again.

The second day of the festival includes performances from Tom Grennan, Circa Waves, Anteros, The Blinders and more. Tom Grennan has managed to gain a legion of fans, release some fantastic tracks such as ‘Royal Highness’ and ‘Sober’ and even bag a world record for performing the most gigs in 12 hours.

Circa Waves, one of the newly announced acts are one of the UK’s best loved indie acts. Their sunny indie first caught people’s attention back in 2015 with their debut album Young Chasers.

An exciting new addition to the Saturday line-up is the incredible Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club. The outfit, fronted by television and radio personality Craig Charles, bring one of the best funk and soul parties in the world to every audience they meet.

The third and final day of Bingley Weekender closes the festivities in style. Headliners James are regarded as one of the prolific bands that arose from the Madchester scene. Their discography includes tracks such as Sit Down and Laid.

In addition, Sunday includes performances from iconic British acts Miles Kane and Billy Bragg. Bookings including The Night Cafe, The Snuts, Ten Tonnes and local lads The Indigo Project ensure that festival goers get to see some of the next generation of up-and-coming bands.

Speaking of local acts, Bingley Weekender has a whole manner of Yorkshire’s finest acts taking to its three stages. Across the weekend there will be appearances from Doncaster natives The Blinders and a rich selection of bands from Leeds’ burgeoning scene including Marsicans, Dead Naked Hippies and Venus. It would be rude not to show off some of the awesome acts from Bradford too so keep your eyes out for rising local heroes Gauranga and Fling.

Although music is the primary focus of the fantastic new festival, there is so much more to Bingley Weekender. The boutique, family friendly festival will include street art, great food and opportunities to camp/ glamp depending on your preferences.

The comedy stage is going to be another hive of activity at Bingley Weekender. Its line-up comprises of talented comics such as Thomas Green, Allyson June Smith and Chris Betts.

Early Bird tickets have already sold out but there is still time to pick up tickets for adults and children for ALL THREE DAYS days of the festival.
