Gary Bowyer was pleased with what he saw as the Bantams recorded an impressive 3-0 victory against Oldham Athletic.

City controlled the affair from the off at the Utilita Energy Stadium, to claim their first win of the new season.

And Bowyer has admitted his relief in seeing his side earn their first three points of the campaign, in front of their home supporters.

Bowyer said: "I am happy with the result, the clean sheet and the three goals.

"I felt we could have played a lot better and maybe even added a few more goals.

"The pleasing aspect is that there is still loads to build on, for us to progress.

"But the main thing is us getting our opening win of the season and it was great to get that at home.

"It was another great turn-out and we were delighted to be able to send our supporters home happy."

The game saw the return of Shay McCartan who - having spent last season on loan at Lincoln City - made his first appearance in claret and amber since last May.

Bowyer is delighted with the amount of depth he has in his squad and has confessed this could prove pivotal as his side approach a hectic period.

The City boss added: "We are always looking to strengthen the squad but we have a lot of depth, this season.

"I was very pleased with the performances of the lads who came off the bench.

"We are all delighted to have Shay McCartan - who I am a massive fan of - back on the pitch. Omari Patrick and Hope Akpan also looked good when they came on.

"I am happy with the squad, at the moment, and hopefully we may be able to add a few more singings before the end of the transfer window."

Bowyer’s Bantams are back in action on Tuesday night, travelling to Stevenage (kick off 7.45pm). CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
