BOWYER RELISHING 'FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE' AS CITY SEEK THREE POINTS

Gary Bowyer is relishing a "fantastic atmosphere" as his Bantams prepare to travel to Grimsby Town.

Bowyer's men will contest their first away trip of the season in front of a sell-out away end, with more than 1,800 City fans making the trip to Blundell Park for the 1.00pm contest.

And the City boss expects them to get fully behind his Bantams as they go in search of their first three points of the season.

He said: "Our supporters are incredible. The way they come out and back us makes me really proud and puts a smile on my face.

"To have close to 2,000 of them travelling to Grimsby is fantastic. I am sure they will make plenty of noise and get right behind us like they always do.

"We cannot wait to get out and see them and hopefully we can put on a good performance to do them proud and put smiles on their faces.

"We have mentioned in team meetings how the support gives us a huge boost and drives us on.

"It is up to us to go to Grimsby and get a positive result."

After claiming a point in the season opener against Cambridge United last weekend, Bowyer is adamant the challenges will not get any easier.

Grimsby were 2-0 victors at Morcambe in their first game of the new campaign and Bowyer expects the Mariners'  momentum to provide another "tough test".

He added: "I have watched Grimsby’s game against Morecambe from last weekend. They performed very well and deservedly won the match.

"They will be buoyed by that and the fact it is their first home game of the season, so we are expecting an extremely tough game.

"They are a very physical, competitive team and we are going to have to be better than them in every department.

"We want to build on our performance against Cambridge and we are confident - should we improve in the areas we have targeted - we can get a result."

City supporters are reminded tickets for this Saturday's match are SOLD OUT, with no pay-on-the-gate option available at Blundell Park.
