City’s under-18s were on the brink of securing their first win of the season, in an abandoned contest at home to Chesterfield.
Leading 2-1 after 65 minutes, the Bantams were denied victory when a serious head injury -sustained by a visiting player - led to the referee calling a halt to the fixture.
A frustrating first half saw City keep up the habit of having most of the game’s possession but struggling to make their visitors pay.
After a couple of half chances had fallen to the young Bantams’ Eliot Goldthorp and Charlie Wood, it was Chesterfield who struck first, 36 minutes in.
Josh Turner swung a ball into the area which eventually fell to Matthew Fuertado who found the back of the net.
The hosts began the second half with more attacking vigour, equalising 12 minutes after the restart through Connor Morris.
After a defensive mix up between Spireites goalkeeper Dylan Wharton and defender Callum Barlow, Morris snuck in to roll the ball into the empty net.
With confidence building, Mark Trueman’s men completed the turnaround just after the hour mark.
Eliot Goldthorp collected the ball on the edge of the area and let fly with a powerful drive which nestled into the top corner.
With the Bantams 2-1 up and firmly in control, the match was abandoned in the 65th minute.
An aerial collision between away striker Turner and City goalkeeper Tom Donaghy led to the former suffering a serious head injury.
The referee deemed the match unplayable from that point, with the outcome of the match still to announced.
