WINTERBURN DETERMINED AHEAD OF WOMEN’S SEASON START

15 August 2019

Bradford City Women’s manager Steve Winterburn has spoken of his determination ahead of this Sunday's season opener.

The Bantams begin their 2019/20 campaign by hosting Durham Cestria at Eccleshill United’s Mitton Group Stadium, with the action set to get underway from 2.00pm.

Winterburn says anticipation is building ahead of the contest - and is confident his ladies are prepared for the challenge.

He said: "I speak on behalf of everyone at the club in saying we are ready for the coming season.

"The players have worked incredibly hard during a gruelling pre-season.

"After our closely-fought final friendly against an organised and talented Sheffield side, last week, we are chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch.

"We have a number of new additions, who will strengthen the squad this year.

"Hopefully, we can kick on and make steps towards getting this club back to where it belongs."

Former women’s chairperson Sally Thackray has returned to the club in a bid to assist with the re-building process.

Her priorities are clear - to recruit her own replacement and strengthen the club’s hard-working committee.

She added: "I cannot emphasise enough how critical it is for us to find volunteers and help the club move forward.

"Please come and help us to ensure football continues to be available for young women in Bradford."
