Gary Bowyer has spoken of his positivity ahead of this afternoon’s Boxing Day meeting with Carlisle United.

The Bantams boss has been encouraged by recent performances, particularly against Salford City, on Saturday.

He has challenged his players to maintain these levels upon their visit to Cumbria.

Bowyer said: “One of the most pleasing things was the level of performance we produced against Salford, particularly with the illness in camp.

“It is an old cliché, but we will play a lot worse than that, this season, and win. There is no doubt about that.

“From our point of view, it was a performance with a lot of positives.

“Everyone is positive and focusing on the Carlisle game. This is just the group as a whole.

“They understand that, over the course of the season, there are going to be ups and downs.

“It is always about going through the process rather than focusing on just the outcome.

“The way the players went about it against Salford was terrific and we are looking for more at Carlisle.”

Bowyer has called for his players to not become complacent ahead of their visit to Brunton Park, against a side currently sat 22nd in Sky Bet League Two.

Despite their league position, the City chief is aware of the threat Chris Beech’s men will pose and insists his side must be ready.

He added: “It is going to be a difficult game, like every other one in this league.

“You only have to look at some of the results at the weekend to see how tough this league is.

“The most important thing is how we prepare and go about it.

“Our attitude and application against Salford was fantastic. The stats were all there to see and we have just got to keep going.”

Supporters can PAY ON THE GATE this afternoon, with over 1,400 Bantams set to make the trip.
