O’DONNELL ‘CONFIDENT’ AHEAD OF NEWPORT ENCOUNTER

5 December 2019

Richard O’Donnell claims City’s camp is full of confidence, ahead of Saturday’s visit of Newport County.

Gary Bowyer’s men return to league action at the Utilita Energy Stadium for the first time in over a month, in the 3.00pm clash.

And the goalkeeper insists, having taken four points from their past three league outings, the Bantams are more than capable of recording another victory.

The former Northampton Town stopper said: "Confidence is high because we know we are a good set of players.

"We had a great training session today with everyone smiling and laughing but working hard.

"We know we need to take it into Saturday's game and get back to winning ways.

"It is frustrating for us, because we know we can do better than what we have shown over the past few weeks, but good because we know we are capable.

"That gives us a lot of confidence. We need to put our hard work into practice and make it count, this Saturday."

Still sitting in the Sky Bet League Two play-off places, O’Donnell is satisfied with his and his team-mates’ current condition.

The 31-year-old stressed the importance of keeping up to pace throughout the campaign, but believes City’s final position is all that matters.

He added: "We are seventh, at the moment, with a game in hand which could take us fourth, if we win.

"We have not been good enough over these past few games, but we are not in a terrible place.

"At the same time, we do not really care how the beginning and middle of the season goes. We just need to make sure we are up there, at the end of it.

"We have a lot of potential to be doing well, at the end of the season, and need to make sure we keep it up.

"We are not miles away from the top and are still in touch with the top two or three.

"We feel we should be a little better off in terms of points, but that definitely gives us room to grow, starting on Saturday."
